Upon removing the carb from my new, low mileage, 2005 KDX I observed that it has had some work done to it. My assumption is the it has been bored and a wing installed in the front.
Or.... is this an manufacturer update post 1997?
Everything else looks/says is OEM.

Wow this bike just keeps getting better, can you think of a reason why the seller might have sold it so cheap??times really hard.Sent a link to our riding group and most would have jumped on it a twice the price.
Could you be in luck and have a Wiseco already installed also..

Times are hard. No such luck on the piston. Pulled the jug off today. No Wiseco. The piston has a star shape cast on the inside.

Is there a way to tell if the head has been worked on?

Ron
Thanks Ron, I'll be sending the head to you tommorow.
And thanks to all for the comments/observations. This site is a wealth of knowledge for the KDX.
I can't wait to get this thing on the trail!

The stock 220 heads have a machined squish band and combustion chamber. The stock 200 heads have a “as” cast squish band and combustion chamber with no machining and it does have a rough texture.
After T/T Ron he came to the conclusion that the carb and slide had be modded by him. So I'm sending the head away!
I've got the Wiseco in and am cleaning the KIPS Valve (a job I'm getting pretty good at)
Also installed the moto rear fender
I think I'll run the rear bag
