loosing oil from front sprocket ????

Noticed that I was loosing oil during a ride due to shifts getting hard. Stopped riding, put in more oil and continued (thought it was just low). Finished riding and came home. Noticed oil in bed on truck when unloading. Washed it up and stored in garage.

Within an hour I saw a puddle of oil on floor. Pulled out the light and specs and started looking closer. It appeared to be dripping from behind front sprocket. I looked online at parts breakdown and there is an "O-ring" behind the gear.

Could this one o=ring be the problem or is there something more I'm missing or overlooking???? The oil continued to drain the case almost empty!!

Can I just pull gear or do I need to take side casing off??? Any answers??

More than likely it's the seal, although you should certainly replace the o-ring while you're in there. You can pull the seal from the outside with a seal remover tool or some creative substitute for one, you just have to have the sprocket out of the way.

Actually there are 2 o-rings

the parts diagram shows a "collar" in front of the o-rings, is that the same as a "seal" ?
