The amount of resistance to the kickstart lever is related in no way to the exhaust pipe fitment...that joint has nothing to do with 'loss of compression' and/or 'resistance to kicker'.
If your fuel petcock lever interferes with the movement of the choke, you have something in a very wrong position.
Lever is 'down' for main, horizontal for off, 'up' for reserve.
