What Cylinder is This?
After reading Scheckaet's post I was curious about my cylinder size. I took a peak and am a little confused. At first I thought it was a lowercase "d", but now I am thinking it might be a poorly stamped capital "B".
Here are links to a couple pictures (sorry I can't figure out how to insert pictures).
Is this a "B" or a "d"? Thanks!

The same mark will be (should be) on the head.
Well, it may not be EXACTLY the same. It might actually look like a 'B'.

Haha, yeah. I thought I was being clever by buying a piston ahead of time, so I would have it handy for a future top end job. However I outsmarted myself by ordering a "D" piston .canyncarvr wrote: Well, it may not be EXACTLY the same. It might actually look like a 'B'.
If anyone is interested in buying said piston and rings before I list on ebay, please speak up .

Check it. It's likely just fine.
What's .001" anyway.........
If it's over .003" (and I'll bet'cha a Kanuck dollar), it's good.
BTW...ordered it through where? Just checking...but if it came from a dealer, Kaw doesn't give you the choice of alpha-marks. IS the piston indeed a 'D'?

What was it that got 'D' on your mind to start with?
Again...don't worry 'bout it. Unless you have a fancy-shmancy bore guage, I doubt your basic feeler approach will show you less than .005"..and that's plenty!
The thing will fit a tad tighter than the 'spec'd 'B'..and will be the best top-end you ever had!!!

I agree!! When it comes to clearance between pistons and cylinders being on the tighter side of acceptable clearances is good for the bike's long run performance - provided you take the time to warm-up your bike each and every time.canyncarvr wrote: The thing will fit a tad tighter than the 'spec'd 'B'..and will be the best top-end you ever had!!!
