smashed rad
I smashed my rad last ride (have no clue when or where) here are a few pics. I don't think it's too bad but rather ask than spending un-necessay $
It doesn't appear to leak but some of the small pieces of aluminium are missing (don't know what they're called sorry)
What's your expert opinion?

Where is it smashed? If it's not leaking, it should not be a problem. The "good" side on the KX looks like that. I rode with the other side crushed way more than that and it's 110 degrees here in the shade. I did send it to Mylers when I repaired the engine, but only because I noticed that it had a pin hole leak.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts leaking.

When I had my bike I had a collision resulting in a smashed rad... I've come to the conclusion that if it don't leak, it's fine!

Take a small flathead screwdriver and separate the squished fins, *carefully*.
You want airflow between the fins, and any crushed fins will reduce cooling.

Those are smashed-rad-pics?
They aren't pics of what it USED to look like?...or what you WANT it to look like?
If it's smashed rads you want so bad...I'll trade yours for mine!
If you're not using rad braces (not shields/guards)...get some. Works Connection braces work.
Maybe edit the pic, put in a pointy arrow thing pointing to the part that's smashed would help......

Well on the pics it's hard to tell, but it slightly bent (and I do mean slightly, the hole with the shrouds are not aligned anymore) and I took the pic after I separated most of the squished fins.
I was more worried about the squished fins than the bending itself. (especially after seeing 2001 KDX pics )
I rode Saturday and it was GREAT, faster than ever. better air flow ??? Or maybe it's cuz I finally installed my DFIII!!!
Next purchase will be some braces and rad guard
Thanks y'all

That's rather a bleak, flimsy reference to what you think of your newly installed DF3.
Or...is there more someplace else?
Seriously, flimsy or not...how do you like it? ...or not...
Other matters...but how did you arrive at a 45/155/CEK-2? Are you satisfied that anything smaller pilot-wise is worse? The DF3 will likely change the whole jetset.
Where do you run the AS? I don't recall if you use the SSS or not....
Ever try a DEK? ..and don't assume the -4 clip on either is 'obviously' too rich.
Quite a lambast.... No reason. Just wondered......
Cheers!

I did noticed it's a lot better off idle, it's crisp now. I also noticed there is more spooge so i'm sure the jetting is off (and no I'm not jetting by spooge factor , I just notice there was more than before so time to investigate), I actually meant to do a plug chop this week end but was too busy riding!
I don't recall xactly where my AS or clip are set (not in the sss) As far as DEK, haven't tried it yet, have heard they're FUN
