Stuck in high RPM
Hi guys/girls! New to this forum need help! I ahve a a 1990 KDX 200. Yesterday i was riding with a couple buddies for and hour. Had no problems until out of no where my bike reved really high and stayed like that. The bike has no problem starting but as soon as it cranks over it revs really high until i hit the kill switch. Please help guys

Cable could be sticking or the carb could be dirty causing it to stick.

Cleaned out the throttle cable on the handle bars. And i cleaned the carb about 3 weeks ago. Im stumped :(

Welcome to the forum!
First make sure the slide isnt stuck wide open then if its not definitely pull the carb and clean it again could have picked up some more dirt from the tank. Thats where I would start.

1990 KDX200 FMF Fatty, Answer VFC silencer, VForce 3 Cage, Wiseco Piston, KX125-J series KYB USD fork conversion, Race tech goldvalves, J series front brake assembly, air-box snorkel removed, Acerbis Headlight, KX450F Front fender, Pro Taper RM bend bars, ASV front Brake lever, MSR Clutch perch and lever, RB Head mod, 36mm PWK carb, Trail Tech Kickstand.

Are you almost out of gas? Mine does that when I'm running low.

No i had gas. That was the first thing i thought. Im going to go ahead and take this carb off and check the jets and that throttle slide and pin to see if they are ok. Ill keep you guys updated. *thank you*

I had a similar problem with mine and it was fixed by a simple and quick carb cleaning.

Most likely a stuck slide as mentioned above. Pull the carb and clean it while you've got it off, its a 30 minute job.

If it's not the slide, you might have an air leak.
