FMF Gold Series Fatty vs Stock
Hey all,
Sorry if this has been covered to death, but I was given an FMF Gold Series Fatty and FMF silencer to replace the stock pipes on my '05 KDX220.
Wondering if anyone can tell me if there'll be a noticeable difference from stock.
I was riding my buddies 220 late last year, and his is noticeably snappier.
He's got an FMF Gold Series Gnarly/PowerCore II on his.
Just wondering if it's worth the effort to swap it out or should I try to save up and get a Gnarly pipe. I hate to just waste an opportunity to improve the performance for free.
Thanks,
Steve

should be worth it, especially if it's FREE. Anything is better than stock.
make sure you jet your bike properly, this makes a huge difference.

I'm currently jetted for where I ride most of time in Eastern NC (roughly at sea-level):
Main: 145
Pilot: 42
Needle: R1173L (3rd position)
I had a quick look on FMF's Jetting page (they only list up to the '04 for some reason) - looks like I'm pretty close (their Main range is 145-148).
- thanks for the quick response.

Well, after searching through the FMF site, I don't think the Fatty is going to fit on my '05 KDX220. They don't even list the 220 in the fitment guide.
This Fatty came off an older 200.
Bummer

i like fatties.........................pipes.
thats what i run on just about all my bikes. they seem to be a real good pipe for all around riding. def better than stock, and if its free, i wouldnt argue what pipe it was!

It is absolutely worth swapping the pipe. Lighter weight and more power. The only negative is more noise.

Wow, I somehow overlooked that you have a 220. The info i posted is not quite right for a 220. The Fatty is still a good pipe for you though. As long as it's 95+ bolt it on and enjoy. The rev and torque pipes act a bit different on the 220 though. The REV being a 220 torque pipe, and the torque pipe being useless.

Well, I'm going to give it back to my buddy.
But I'm going to save my pennies and buy a decent FMF Pipe & silencer (saving $ is hard to do when you own a problematic KTM).
Thanks for the help.
