Skid plate questions
Anyone know who sells a skid plate that has the wings for the E series? There are some really nice plates available for the KX500. Anybody know if a KX500 skid plate will work on the E series KDX? If so, what years? Thanks!

Hmm, I can't find an actual pic of it to see if it has the wings. I know some do but others just cover between the frame rails and that's all.

Here is one I'm making. If I could weld AL, I'm sure I'd weld them on. But since I can't I'm going with bolt on wings.
This is the water pump wing.
I'm using 3/16" aluminum, which is overkill for this, but I had it laying around. With that thick of material, I'm expecting the wings will bend well before the mounting bolts will fail. And I'm hoping that if I do mangle up a wing, I can make a new one and bolt it on. I guess we'll see when that time comes.
I'll finish this up once I get the bike all back together from the winter tear down.

Yeah, that is what I'm talking about! I want something that will help protect the water pump a bit. I have been riding more technical stuff lately and I'm afraid one of those nasty rocks is going to get to it.

Finally go the bike back together and could work on finishing up the skid plate. I haven't made a wing for the ignition side yet, but this is what the water pump side looks like.

No problem. Check the shipping rates before you get too excited tho.SS109 wrote:Awesome find. Thank you!rbates9 wrote:I just found this for the older KDX's. http://www.scottsperformance.com/groupi ... &Groups=25

I did. Considering no one had the type I wanted, plus, even with shipping it is cheaper than anywhere else I found a skid plate. I went ahead and bought it. I even decided to pick up one of their shifters as well.rbates9 wrote:No problem. Check the shipping rates before you get too excited tho.SS109 wrote:Awesome find.
