Race Tech says 175lb rider before gear = .436kg
MX Tech says 185-195lb rider with gear = .43kg
Fredette says .38kg
So do I install .38, .40 or .42
I really think .44kg would be too stiff?
Trail riding, to be used by a B class senior. My son ain't ridin' it, so I might as well ride the darn thing!

I would go with Fredette. a .38 or .40 should work fine. I find Race Tech & MX Tech are too Stiff & spring rates DO NOT CHANGE when you select MX, Enduro,etc...

I would go softer too. I weigh 175 lbs and I bought .44kg/mm springs from RT for my KDX250 because they didn't have the proper .42kg/mm for my weight. I find them far too stiff and am in the process of re-installing the stockers to see if I like them better. The RT springs are OK for trail riding but I did a harescramble with them in and found the bike really wanted to deflect into the trees over every high-speed bump...scary. I'm hoping the softer front will solve this...even if it bottoms once in a while.
