I think I'll be building another before I sell this one. I'm going to keep my radar up for the right bikes for another hybrid. Granted, I donated my 2007 KLX300r (sold it to keep wife from leaving and taking half of everything) and my son gave me the KDX220r motor, but I actually had no out of pocket money associated with this build. But hell, I'd do it again just for the satisfaction! This was fun. Again, thanks to guys like ebeck and other for sharing information and providing inspiration!! I'm pumped!

well we should be there too. Keep in touch and we can meet up. Me and my dad would love to show off the KX-DX!David_L6 wrote:5th is darned good in that series!
We didn't make the last two races. Daniel broke his collar bone at the Geismar race. He should be healed and ready by the end of August.

Well its going to get to 104 tomorrow! However, it was killing me to sit and just look at it. 4:00 am in the morning we are headed to the woods, should get there around 6 and will most likely be back by noon. 3 hours of riding and 4 hours of driving but heck. it not every day you get to take your first ride on the KX-DX220r you just built!KarlP wrote:Its going to be too hot to hit the woods this weekend but,
C'mon now, it's not too hot. It's like this half the year, at least!
The bike looks very nice.

We went to Forest Hill, Clarborne Trails. We managed to get 43 miles in before it got too hot. The bike was GREAT! Did about 10 miles on the single track (boy scout loop) before we decided to run the woodworth loop to keep a better breeze going.David_L6 wrote:Where are y'all going riding?Bouillion wrote:Well its going to get to 104 tomorrow! I really can't get over the response and handling. Now granted, I was riding a 2007 KLX before however, my son was very impressed and said it was more fun than riding his KTM (After riding the KTM, I agree). It took me a while to get use to the response. I have to admit, it got away from me once coming out of an up hill turn and it came over on me. It seemed like I needed a ramp to get the KLX wheel off the ground, this thing was challenging to keep it down. I believe I only went into 3rd gear maybe twice as the trail straighten out. As soon as I hit third up she came!
It was so much fun!
P.S. Plus I only lost one bolt, lower bolt on kick stand!

The Lousiana trail riders association puts on some good events. Those guys may know of some riding areas closer to you.
If you want to come to Alabama for some serious singletrack, you are welcome. We've got about 20 miles of trail 10 miles from the Mississippi line on I-10. That'd only be a 4 hour drive, each way, eh?

We have been talking about making an out of state ride once it starts to cool down a little. Good 3 day weekend plan. I hear Arkansas has a few nice spots also. I'd love to ride trails up in the hills which have a few nice vista views. Don't have those in Louisiana!
