Hello all, I'm Dr. Green.

Post by Dr. Green »

Just thought I would introduce myself. I just bought my first KDX 200 and I can't ride it enough! It's a 2002 that appears to be very low hours. My previous dirt bike was a CR125, with all the typical mods. At first I was a little disappointed in the KDX. It seemed to be much less powerful than the CR. But the more I ride it; I realize it's mostly a transmission difference. The 1st & 2nd gears of the KDX seem to be much lower than that of the CR. It's as if the CR transmission spread used maybe 2nd or 3rd of the KDX for its 1st gear and 4th or 5th of the KDX for 6th. So to me the KDX trans is much more versatile. And I think the KDX has a little more power, with potential for more. The KDX seems to really wake up in 3rd and gets almost too fast for the dirt in 6th, almost. Those lower gears are awesome for climbing, it pulled me (6' @235lbs) and my son (70lbs) riding two-up, up some pretty steep inclines (empty retention ponds) with ease. Very cool bike, I don't miss the CR at all. My biggest complaint with the CR was the hand numbing after 15-20 minutes of riding. We rode right at 40 miles on Sunday, should have brought a lunch. The funny thing is, I was only going to give my son a quick ride to see if he was interested in getting his own dirt bike. At first, he was a little scared to get on. Well one trip up and down the street and he didn't want to get off! So, now he has to have a dirt bike! :supz: So the KDX has really had a positive impact at my house. Great bike for me, but I can already feel my wallet getting lighter.

Awesome. Welcome! Yep, the smooth power off-idle, and wide ratio trans is what makes the KDX great.
