1993 kdx 200 main jet and pilot jet?
does anybody know how to tell if your bike is jetted right? also what did the 1993 kdx 200 come with stock from the factory for jet sizes main jet and pilot jet? I do not race it or ride it hard. I am simply gonna use the bike for riding around in the woods.

Stick a 155/45 in there and ride.

That is a safe jetting for anytime other than extreme cold.

I agree, completely. 155/45 is just about the best suggestion anyone can give you for jetting your KDX. The leanest possible combo that will likely be safe for darn near any elevation/condition. You can obviously do better than that by jetting it for your actual riding conditions, but you kinda have to do that yourself. There is tons of information available regarding procedure for jetting 2 stroke carburetors.Indawoods wrote:That is a safe jetting for anytime other than extreme cold.
Anyway, 155/45 should run quite a lot better than 180/48 no matter where you are! This is assuming, of course, that the bike is mechanically sound otherwise.

thanks for the info guys! it really helps. I'm gonna order some new jets right away. The bike seems mechanically sound to me. it starts right up in 2 kicks when you choke it. you can turn the choke off right away and it will idle like a champ. oh, and by the way, my air mixture screw is turned out 1 1/4 turns right now. do I need to change that once I switch to 155/45?

Most ride with the clip in the center of the needle as a starting point. That should also be safe.....

Read the jetting guide to guide you through adjusting the air screw.

On my 91 KDX (same motor and carb), I run a 150 MJ, 45 PJ in the summer and am gonna try a 42 PJ. Bike runs awesome. In the winter I run a 160 MJ, 52 PJ and runs good. So for a main jet start out with a 155 as Inda suggested and work your way down. I don't know if I would try any lower than a 150. 45 is good for pilot jet, start with that and test a 42 in it to compare.

thanks for the info 91kdx! I ordered my new 155m and 45p jets yesterday, should be here tuesday. my air screw is out 1 1/4 turns so from what I read about adjusting that, I'm gonna bring it down to 3/4 turns out. I'm not sure what my needle clip position is but I'll check and put it in the center clip/notch.

The air screw is adjusted for the current conditions not set at a specific setting. I suggest reading the Jetting Guide again.
