Sand
Howdy,
What are ya'll running for deep sand?
I changed my CS to a 12T (stock 47T rear) and it's great for woods but in sand, 1st just digs a hole unless I quick shift into 2nd or even start in 2nd and then go to 3rd and 3rd feels a little high (and that may be due to a lack of bite/traction). I think part of my problem is the rear tire - have a 739 on there and the knobs are getting rounded and I have a 756 in the garage but just haven't mounted it yet.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Best,
Greg

If your running just straight sand i'd look at getting a paddle tire. You'll need that lower gearing then.

With a 12t and a fresh tire you should be able use 2nd and 3rd pretty much all the time.

Re: Sand
I live in mich. , lots of sandy trials hear too. My kdx is a 92 . What i run is stock front gear, and a 48 on the rear. Tires that i find work best for sand ,and some dirt too are a 756 on the front, and a 773 on the back. I had a 756 on the back and fond it did not work that good in sand, but the 773 works very, very good. 13 pounds front 11 or 12 in the rear tire.gwhII wrote:Howdy,

47 tooth rear? And define BIG!
The KDX is a great woods bike. It can cross over into other things but it really isn't designed to do anything more than woods riding.

That combo works great for me especially once I pull my skirt up and commit to a climb with some momentum and fan the clutch when necessaryTony Leone wrote:How does the 12t cs and a (stock rear) work on big hills? This is my first 2 stroke. I just changed over from a big 4 stroke and hills are a problem for me.
