Will a 2002 Headlight plate work on a 2003?

Post by John McIntosh »

I see there is a headlight number plate listed on ebay for a 1999-2002 KDX. Mine is a 2003. will it fit my bike? It looks to be the same but it's tough to tell. It looks like I might be able to get a good deal. Any info you can give would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mack

Hi. You may want to check on the http://www.buykawasaki.com to be sure, but most parts are interchangeable or the exact same on the 1995 and newer KDX's.

No problem. That site has helped me a lot with matching up part numbers.

How about this:

From the link Jason noted (you bookmarked it, right?) an '00 shell PN is:

23005-5040-6W

The '03 PN is:

23005-5044-6w

Look at RonAyers.com to find the former is $73.76. the latter is $77.75

So...in some way MamaKaw says they are not the same part, but I bet it's an appearance issue, NOT a matter of fit.

Well..having absolutely no clue myself, I take that bet back!!

Let us know if it bolts-up good!

All the mounting brackets are the same, but the stickers are different. Since it comes with a different sticker, that is enough to throw off the part numbers. You may want to see if someone will look under their headlight and check for a molded part number. I don't know if the headlight shells have the number molded or not, but I remember seeing a fender like that, so maybe that would help.
