What sprocket gearing you guys are using?

Post by reymund77 »

Hi all...got the 97 KDX220SR...just like to check with you guys what sorta sprocket gearing you guys are on?.....

I'm basically riding flat track now with long session that can do WOT on 4th or even 5th gear....but tight 90 or 120 deg corner, I have to knock down to 1st....can't do so in 2nd gear yet and its very abrupt...

Now on 14 front, 45 rear for sprocket.....with FMF gnarly, Wiseco, stock carb....I would prefer a better low end...thou luv the smooth power delivery of the KDX now and the low end compared to the KTM200EXC which is very snappy and wild

Before and now; 13 by 48 for tight trails/woods/singletrack.

For the future, since my RB is done, I will buy a 47 because I have enough torque with the RB Mods and I want to use the Rev/High of the RB too. I will race more often too.

My KDX220R setup is Wiseco piston, RB Mods head and carb, V-Force3, WER damper, KX fork, Race Tech gold valves, IMS pegs, name it, have it LOL! :supz:

hit the trail yesterday and realised the bike clearance is lower then other bikes like KTM200EXC, KTM250EXCF, WR400F

Hit a badly rutted slopes and everyone was riding in the rut up...but took the same path, standing and even peddling on certain section wif butt off the seat...footpeg jus got caught by the ruts (using IMS Pro and the springs are working fine)....any idea how to solve this or increase the ground clearance?

Now 13-48 on my SR, perfect ( for me ). remember if you fit a bigger tyre that will also raise the gearing, i put on a michelin x11 trials tyre, was worth at lest 3 teeth on the rear,

Ref raising the bike, there are raising links available, the size is stamped on the links, ie 119.5 ,shorter ones will raise the bike, on the front get the forks up all the way, .
