Air Screw ?
Stock 06 200
Snorkel removed
Gnarly woods/Turbine Core II
Carb stock as far as I know, second owner
Needle on 3rd clip
Maxima Castor 32:1
_____________________________________________________
When adjusting the air screw, from 1 - 2 turns out, there is barely any change in engine RPM - not like euw that's the sweet spot. Any good links to a post that I could follow or what am I missing? Bike simply has a slight hesitation down low then runs up just fine.
Thanks.
Bill
PS - I did search but nothing showed up that I could find.

It's not about engine rpm, it's about the bike's performance. Ride the bike in 2nd gear slow, blip the throttle and feel the bike respond. Adjust the air screw and do it again. Move in 1/16 or less increments and soon you will find a sweet spot where the throttle is very responsive to the blip in throttle. Good luck!!

Proper air mixture adjusting procedure
To obtain the proper air mixture screw setting is as follows;
You are not adjusting for the highest idle!
Initial setting
Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temp, with the bike in neutral blip the throttle from the closed position and see if the engine stumbles or stalls.
Adjust the mixture in one direction only a 1/6th to 1/8th turn at a time. Blip the throttle, if it improved turn it another 1/6th to 1/8th turn and blip it again. If the direction you first started with makes it worse then turn it the other direction 1/6th to 1/8th turn at a time until you get the best response.
Final setting
Next get on the bike and run it in 2nd or 3rd gear with the engine idling (walking speed) and blip the throttle. Next try and adjust the mixture screw 1/16th turn in both directions until you get the best acceleration off a closed (or almost closed) throttle.
Thank you,
Ron

2.5 at best, and if it's getting better at that point, but still not 'there' then you need to go to a leaner (smaller) pilot jet.

A stock jetted carb is too richly jetted for most riding situations, and air screw adjustment is likely not too effective.
The adjustments mentioned are not intended to be done quickly..give the bike time to 'settle' on its new configuration.

Not sure if that is laced with sarcastic wit or not........paceyman wrote:Thanks for making it clear on EXACTLY what I need to do.
I think it's quite clear..what to do, how to do it, AND some realistic expectations you can..uh..expect...and those you cannot.
Jet-By-Mail doesn't work. General guidelines and a basic how-to are combined with feedback to your rear-end via your throttle hand to get to your best end-result.
Good-to-go?
