Has anyone tried to use this on their seat cover?

I used something like that before on bass boat seats. Worked really good on one but the other one got messed up. For some reason it did not adhere as good and started flaking off
I think you'd be much happier with a gripper cover. Makes riding MUCH easier.
And while you are at it add a little extra foam on the very back of the seat to create a stepped seat. I put one on mine and it has almost erased any chance of the ol' loop out. It has improved my ability to stay on the seat in steep terrain 100% better!
