Gearbox Proplem? (KX65)
My son's KX65 has developed a problem. Sometimes when shifiting up between the higher gears, the gears don't engage. It is like there is a neutral he is shifing into between 3rd and 4th and also between 4th and 5th. A second attempt pulling up on the shift lever will engage the gear. Any idea where the problem lies?

Don't know about your kid...but a whole lot of kids I've seen (most) think the shift lever works better the harder you smash it.
Jamming the thing with a booted heel is not the path to longevity.
You covered the basics, I presume: Loose shift lever, physical obstruction (maybe after the lever got bent)? Physical obstuction may not be the bike..but the rider..as in 'New Boots'!

I don't know the KX65 at all, but check you're manual for a disk looking thing partly under the clutch basket. if you have one, it has some detents in it for a ball gizmo to go in. That's under spring pressure. The detents could be screwed up or the springs broken or weak. Check for that before you split the cases.
