KDX Noob Happy to be back on Team Green
Prior to this spring, I had ridden a '74 F11 250 for the last 19 years. Sold it and bought a '91 Suzy DR350S and while it was a good bike for it's intended purpose, she was not suited to my type of riding. Sold it off and finally replaced it with what I should have bought in the first place.
The bike is an 03 KDX220 (originally sold and put into service on 5/11/04)currently has the following mods:
Fredette springs up front (200lb rider)
10 hours on Weisco top-end (standard bore)
Stock pipe with FMF Turbincore silencer (Stock silencer included)
Re-jetted for the new silencer
Pro-taper bars
Moose barkbusters
Up 2 teeth in the rear
Torque ring
Airbox mod
Black oversized tank
Black gripper seatcover
Works Connection Skid Plate
Rode it about 8 hours on Saturday and it handles like it's on rails. I'm loving life. Currently pawing through posts on the site to pick up tidbits here and there and doing searches for suspension setup tips, etc. I'll be asking questions once I've exhausted my ability to find those already answered questions.

Mostly woods/trail riding with my boys (10 & 12) in the North Georgia area. We have pretty diverse terrain that ranges from rich loam to rocky hard-pack red clay. Not much in the way of wide-open flat ground, it's mainly TST or narrow quad-width trails with 0-2000 ft changes in elevation across a given trail system. There are MX tracks around, but I won't be busting out any nac-nacs on the triples, but might hit some of the European GP-styled natural terrain tracks.Ondatrail wrote:Welcome!! Welcome! That brings back memories, I learned to ride on a 74 F11 250 when I was 13. It was my older brothers, not a great first bike to learn on but was fun to ride around the neighborhood, well until the turn signals, headlight, taillight and such was torn off of it. We put a knobby on it and a rather large rear sprocket and rode it in the woods for a couple of years.

The wife bought my F11 (non-runner for 3+ years) for $50 from a cow-worker. I cleaned the carb, filed the corrosion off the points, installed a new plug and she started on the 3rd kick. I rode it for over 19 years with no issues and sold it over the summer for $550. Wish I could get it back for that price now.Dewey wrote:Welcome! Thanks Chris, this is obviously the place to be for all things KDX! I can't believe we are the only RMD'ers here....that must make us the craziest ones in the Asylum then huh? !Wudscrasher wrote:Welcome to the Asylum, Keith! I forgot all about the Works Connection skid plate when listing the mods. I do need to add a pipe and radiator guards before I head to my favorite (rocky) OHV parks. Any specific recs?

Thanks for the welcome. When you say Chattanooga forest, are you talking about Prentice Cooper or something else? I haven't been to PC yet but hear good things about the riding there.TWMOODY wrote:Welcome Keith

I'll have to check it out. We do run over to Highland Park several times a year (Cedartown) so I'm no stranger to the West side, but hadn't heard of the Chattanooga Forest area.TWMOODY wrote:Chattanooga forest
