Rear MX Fender E Series

Post by Mr. Wibbens »

I shoulda wrote it down somewheres but I guess I dint

Looped it today and broke the sucker clean off

Image

Did not get 'er warmed up good enough and would not pull down low in second so I had to go with first gear, and the front came up at the worst time!
Hit so hard it packed the s/a tip with dirt

Wondering which KX fender it is that works?

Seems like it was a 125-250 fender and I can't remember what year either

Hopefully the guy I bought it from knows and has another one, riding without a fender SUCKS!

I rode 47 miles today, with no rear fender and my ass is still cold. To get all the mud off I had to wash my camelback, pants, jersey and even my underwear with a pressure washer

Yup, it's the KX500 and I think any year. At least up to 2003.

Thanks guys

I can't believe the first place I went to had a fender!

I was amazed he was even open, as most bike shops are not open on Mondays. He said he's been open on Mondays for 14 years.

:supz:

I doubt it, it does not fit the E series too great, the two front holes need to be redrilled, and the washers for those two bollts need to be ground flat on one side

Wibs, I'd like to know how that KDX loops you off the back, enough so that your rear fender snaps off. You've made a seat-step and your a pretty big dude too, seems kind of strange.
E series gots lotsa pull, plus my gearing is a little lower than most, 13- 48.

The trail that I looped it on is kinda gnarly, starts out with a stream running right down the trail, has a few portions of deep slippery ruts followed by twists and switchback turns and lots of roots and brush slapping the crap out of you, all the while steadily heading uphill. On the last little bit (I'm usually pretty worn out) you come around a rooty corner and have a short straight stretch and a small but near vertical rut to climb up to a road. Second gear usually pulls it great but it just would not do it this time, so I had to gor for 1st and the front tire just came up and up and up! Bike went straight up and came straight down!

After hauling my broken fender and tool bag back to the truck I went back up the trail and it pulled second easy
