Pro Circuit VS FMF
I have heard here on the forums fitting problems with the FMF pipe.
How does the PC fit pipe fit? Is this a bolt on or is there a lot of bending twisting and yelling involved?

There are less problems with PC pipes than FmF pipes.
FmF did not make a Fatty for the 'H' models. That one didn't fit an 'H' isn't too much of a wonder. The pipes FmF MAKES for the series at times don't fit either.
You can still yell a lot while puttin on your PC if you want to.........

WRONG! They DID make the fatty for the "H" model KDX. How long has the gnarly been available? Since 1998! What do you think came before it? This is something I want to clear up, if you see a fatty pipe on a "H" kdx, it's not some crazy thing, it's normal. Just a rarity. The fatty comes in k-30 and k-35 designations. I have the k-30, but I wouild like to have the -35. Once I go RB I shouldn't need more low end thoughcanyncarvr wrote:FmF did not make a Fatty for the 'H' models.

OK. I'm wrong. I'm not sure what that makes you though...incorrect maybe?
Re: 'The fatty comes in k-30 and k-35'
The fatty pipe was 'A' profile, just as the 'rev' and 'torque' are profiles.
The fatty was an 'all better everywhere' pipe..
http://www.motoworldracing.com/FMF-Gold ... Honda.html
The -30 is a rev profile, the -35 is a torque profile.
'Gnarly' is nothing more than the metal gauge the thing is made from. It used to be a 'Burly', but FmF got in trouble for using a registered name, so they changed it to 'Gnarly'.
Saying you have a Gnarly pipe means nothing in regard to its performance profile. As much as saying you have a 'Gold' pipe.
IF they made a Fatty for the 'H' model KDX, why did you have to move a bracket to make it fit?
I'm not saying a Fatty pipe won't fit. I've seen Fatty's on 'H' model bikes. But try going to the FmF site and buying a Fatty for an 'H' model. They list the -30 and -35. That you mention the -30 and -35 profile pipes as being a 'Fatty' pipe is an indicator that you have your pipes mixed up.
You are welcome to call your pipe whatever you want and like it as much as you like.
Facts is still facts.

From:Our Fatty Gold Series pipe broadens the powerband and provides a healthy power increase everywhere..

My facts:
Gold series Fatty
k-30 stamped on tab
power increase- noticeable up top

I've heard fmf pipres don't fit well anyway... They discontinued the fatty pipe FOR the gnarly/burly. I still believe I have a -30 fatty.
Riddle me this - if they never made an "H" fatty, then wibby's fatty should go directly into your cylinder and silencer, and the bottom bolt should line up, as did mine.
I think theres a post on Canadian daves that has some info, I'll have to go there.

OK, here we go:
http://dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread ... fatty+pipe
FMF best all around pipe seems to be Rev pipe, aka Desert, aka -30.
Some riders prefer the FMF Torque pipe, aka Woods pipe, aka -35, if they are climbing hills a lot.
FMF Gnarly pipes: number -35 = torque, number -30 = rev
The FMF Fatty pipe is an early version superceded by the two newer "Gnarly Woods" or "Gnarly Desert" pipes.
Another: http://dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread ... fatty+pipe
Quoting Wibby on DRN :
The Fatty only fits 200's from '86-'88 and '89-'94
For the '95-present they have the Gnarly Woods (torque) and the Gnarly Desert (rev)
*******
You may have a Fatty on your H model, but they don't have 'em anymore at FMF
Another: http://dirtrider.net/forums3/showthread ... fatty+pipe
I can get more, but I think you get my point

Boys, boys....
"Fatty" came out first for the KDX. Then when the "Woods" and "Dessert" profiles came out the "Fatty" was dropped.
No need to bring RDN into it!

Re: 'I think you get my point.'
Yes. I do.
..which has nothing to do with what you said in the first place. All you have done is substantiate (although it's from a site that generally doesn't know much anymore...anyone that knew anything is here..now.)
Or, in other words...what Inda said.
The Fatty is neither a -30 or -35.
If it makes you feel better to believe what you do...y'all have a good time!!

They DO know nothing over there! There's still good posts to search up on from back in the old days, ya know, when you were still posting.
The fact remains, my fatty pipe looks different from the one in the thread in my last post, my pipe looks identical to the gnarly desert, with its larger circumference, but the one in the thread was smaller, similar to the gnarly woods. I am still not convinced that there was not a k-30 or k-35 selection of fatties during that short period. I have the -30 on my tab, the other guy had -35. Maybe you just ordered the pipe, and whatever came, torque or rev, you got!
If jeff fredette started riding "H" models in '95, he would know what pipe was available at that time, maybe i'll call him.
Check out my cheapo $60 dented fatty! AND my band-aid fix for the tab - just haven't gotten around to welding it yet. No desire with all this snow
