I like the Acerbis brush guards easy no hassle. offers a great deal of protection for me and the bike. they don't move much when you go down.

I actually hate the Acerbis ones. They're on my kid's CRF, and I am constantly jacking with them. the inside bar parts are the lamest metal made, and the outer plastic parts aren't replaceable , so they expect you to buy whole new bar gaurds when the plastic needs to be replaced. I never used the Fredette ones, but I recomend the Tusk units, mine have taken some huge impacts and never broken the mounts. I'm currently using the Cycra Pro bend ones, they seem well made, but no big impacts yet so I don't know how strong they are. The inside bar mounts seem very strong, and the other end mounts to the triple tree, so it keeps the bars less cluttered. I went with these when I converted to KX forks. The other nice thing about the Cycras is they don't interfere with the end of the clutch lever since they're kinda wiggly, hopefully that bend won't make them too weak.
<edit> By "inside the bar" I mean the little sleeve that goes inside the bar end, not the inboard mount near the triple tree.

Acerbis? Not a good product, don't work, not worth the money. IMO. I've used them.
Or...what CM said.
I have not used them on my bike...but my research brought me to Cycra's as my next setup. I've talked to riders that use them and dealers that sell them...they have very favorable opinions of the Cycra stuff.
Some fabrication may be required...I recall some Cycra models are not available for the KDX.

I have the FRP, they have taken good hits and have not bent a bit. The bruch guards are nice & wide also. I you have aftermarket bars, you will have to get the wider inserts that insert into the grip/bar area. Let Jeff know when you order, I did'nt but had a pair around. Also, I have my bars cut down to 30.5 inches and they fit tight. Might be able to go 30 inches, but thats it. Leave the brackets loose when installing, get them positioned and tighten.

I think FRP is the first thing I buy everytime or something he uses/sells next.
I did, however go for the Cycra Pro-Bends and they are nice! I had always use Acerbis on previous rigs and the Moose/everyone else style one time recently. I liked everything and now have moved on to something better. No problems mounting up to my 7/8"s Pro-Tapers. They make a model that attaches directly to the top clamp, but I no likey!

MSR D'Flectors are made by EE (says so on the back of the item). Moose also. I think EE makes them for Fredette also.Indawoods wrote:I thought they were MSR's.... look the same anyway.
The only difference is in the plastic deflectors. They all seem custom. The Moose ones being available in two different sizes.

Correct! Moose and MSR do not make thier own stuff. Moose is Parts Unlimited's "Brand" product. MSR is Tucker Rocky's. As another example: MSR & Moose skid plates are made by UTAH sport cycle (actually that is not the manufacturing name of the company...for some reason it has slipped my mind)
I was running the Moose Alum on the KDX with Cycra plastic. I've got Cycra Probend Pro taper mounts on the KX. Both have taken hard hits and have held up well. For the money...the Moose/MSR/Fredette are great choices. I prefer the Cycra's for the same reason as Mike--that and they look "cool".
Scott's has the import rights to Acerbis. Scott's is a great company to deal with and builds/sells great quaility products with great support. Although I like Acerbis for many of thier products...I'm not a huge fan of thier most of thier handguard systems. The flag type handguards(read...MX roost guards) they sell are great---For MX roost. The rest of thier off-road handguard systems are more expensive than most other companies' better quality handguard systems.

Fredette claimed to make the guards back when, I don't know about now, but outside of the brush guard, yeah they look close. I would think when a person comes up with a design they farm it out or sell the designs.canyncarvr wrote:The FRP units are Enduro Engineering guards...correct?
