Seal savers... What size?

Post by grump99 »

I was looking to buy seal savers for my '04 kdx (stock forks). When I went to their website to buy them, I became confused about which diameter to buy. My fork tubes are 43 mm, but the savers for 36-43 mm tubes are said to fit "most 80 cc bikes". The size said to fit "most bikes 125 cc and higher" are for 44-50 mm tubes. Should I buy the larger ones anyway?

Thanks!

For the Conventional Forks, I would leave the Boots on. It does look better

I like the way the stock boots look too. My only concern is that I get some dirt and moisture collecting at the top of the dust seals. I will probably just clean under the boots more often. Thanks!

The stock boots do a really good job of keeping the dust seals clean. I'd just lift them up occasionally and clean out under them.

That's another way of saying, 'KX forks required!'

BTW...you're familiar with the film negative cleaning idea?

I'm gonna keep the stock boots for now. I am aware of the film negative method. The seals dont get that dirty, so I will just lift the boot and clean underneath now and then. Hehe, the KX forks are my next step just have to save up some dough! Thanks for the replies!
