I'd look for a set of DRZ triples and see if your machinist can make the KDX stem work with them. Don't most of the DRZ guys switch to RM inverted forks?

The DRZ 400 forks are the same forks as the sought after 97,98 rm 125/250 forks. You do have to check though on some of the DRZ 400 forks since one of the models (street model) had the Showa forks - but did not have the adjustable rebound until around 2002, if my memory serves me.
Showa conventionals are rated by many people as one of the very best off road forks available - right up there with the WP Extreme 50's. I kept trying to buy Showa conventionals off e-bay, but they kept going for more than I was welling to pay - so finally I just picked up a set of USD's to make the conversion.

I know this guy personally. Met him at several enduros. He's a straight shooter. I'd buy it right now if I had the room for another bike in the barn. Heck, I'd sell my KDX and buy that one for the low price he's asking. If anyone here is interested in getting it, I would be happy to help setup the delivery!! It would be stored in my garage, unridden of course, until you can come pick it up.foots wrote:Here's a guy with RMX250 conventionals on his KDX so I know it will work. Trying to get some info from him.

Actually the write up says he has a KDX engine- IN a KX Frame with RMX conventionals.
But with a little creativity putting the RMX forks on a KDX should not be too big a job _ I think...
I like conventional because of their lack of stiction and bouncing off rocks with your lower fork legs doesn't cost you a hundred dollars for a new lower tube. Sized right they are plenty ridged enough for me.
