Older engine
What’s the best idea when running an older engine on pre mix for the first time, I’m leaning to wetter than drier so maybe 30:1 thoughts [emoji848]

More oil will help with ring seal but you need to properly jet for whatever ratio you're running.

Re: Older engine
If your crankseals are fine and there's no coolant in your oil, or crzy slop in the crank, run whatever ratio you are going to use and jet to that. 32:1 is OEM, most folks go 40:1, even seen some guys swear by 50:1, just search on here for oil wars, they are plentiful lol. Pick one, jet to it, and stick with it. I assume this means the oil pump was a non-starter?

Re: Older engine
The Oil pump has a check valve in the brass fitting housed in the inlet manifold and mine is by-passing, so as the engine cycles the oil only gets so far before it gets stopped in the pipe.
I have ordered on from Japan but want to start the bike.

Re: Older engine
OK, cool.
I would just do 32:1 or 40:1, somewhere around there. Don't put extra oil.

Re: Older engine
Have put that search on hold, the old tank seal seams to be working. Once I get the bike rally long weekend out of the way I would like to do a full resto. I will have to figure out the best location for the oil tank to fit a plastic tank.Jason wrote:Any luck yet on the plastic E fuel tank?
