2 stroke for Beginners

Post by EnjeKDX »

HI Guys
SA rider here.
Just picked up a 2000 model kdx 200,
managed to make out its a Grey import G model , guessing SR as it has a Metal tank?? :supz:
have had my hand in a number of bikes over the years but my first 2 stroke.
any advice on what to look at off the cuff.?
she is running , but finding the idle irregular and her first and second gear very short and almost as if she hits her throttle limit very early into these gears.

Any guidance would be highly appreciated.

Hello, welcome to KDXRIDER.

Check compression, check for proper KIPS function, and check / replace carburetor jet block gasket.

Welcome to the forum. A good read besides the jetting guide is an article on air leaks by Klemm Vintage.
