Front wheel bearings
Hi guys, I'm doing winter matinence and I've found I have about 1/16" movement when I grab the front tire and move it side to side. I took off the wheel and visually inspected the bearings, they move freely, are quiet, no grinding so I put it back together and it's still wiggling. I'm assuming the bearings are the only wear items so on that note, how are moose bearings?
Thanks, Tim
Thanks, Tim

Re: Front wheel bearings
I haven’t any experience with Moose, but I’ve replace numerous wheel bearing with All Balls and they’ve all been great. FWIW, these all went on roadrace bikes so if they can handle the heat and stress there, I’m assuming they’re GTG.

Re: Front wheel bearings
The best quality bearings are from a bearings supply. Koyo is a oem bearing.

Nice, do you know any other KDX bearing sizes off the top of your head?spl383 wrote:The best quality bearings are from a bearings supply. Koyo is a oem bearing.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Thanks for the link! 9$ for the bearings and 24$ for shipping! I think I'll go local.

Re: Front wheel bearings
LOL. It was $7.75 for USPS Priority Mail when I looked.
6 riders, the parts diagrams sometimes have the bearing number in the description...
BEARING,BALL,#6202UC3
601B6202UG
for example
Be sure to know what all the codes mean before you get two open sided bearings.

Shipping on that sight is nuts, more than the bearings?

Re: Front wheel bearings
Shipping is not cheap anywhere. USPS went up again last Sunday.
Buy a bunch of bearings so the price can go down on average.

Re: Front wheel bearings
Shipping to me is only $9 seems average to me. It would cost me more than that in gas, to drive to the nearest bearing supply so I prefer to order them online.6 Riders wrote:Shipping on that sight is nuts, more than the bearings?

Front Bearings for the 220 should be 6202-2rs and the rear is 6004-2rs
Front Seals are 20x35x4.5 and rear is 25x42x5
you should double check these sizes.

Re: Front wheel bearings
SKF bearings and seals FTW lol I was able to get an SKF wheel bearing kit through moto sport for the KX125, wasn't able to find a kit for the KDX's tho. I'll probably just piece together a kit here when I change them next. Timken and FAG are top notch manufacturers as well, if you're going that route
Pivot Works bearings are pretty nice too and they will replace them one time for free if subject to normal wear (no installation error).
Can never go wrong with direct OEM bearings from the parts diagrams (not a cheap route tho).
You really do get what you pay for with cheap bearings, like the All Balls, Bearing Connections, Moose, etc... the quality just isn't there. I probably over analyze thinking about dirt bike parts, but I've learned the hard way at work (dealing with pumps) that cheap bearings usually end up costing you more in the long run. To each their own, I just stay away from them.

Re: Front wheel bearings
just replaces the front wheel bearings in my kdx200H
why on earth were the originals singe shielded???
anyway replaced with some 6202-2RS double rubber shielded replacements, crap got into the original ones from the inboard side and i noticed some float, all good now.
also i replaced the seal as well and wasn’t able to get a thinner one like the oem however an 15mm x 35mm x 8mm wide one fitted fine, it sticks out a little but doesn’t impede the stepped spacer at all.
