Hello from Arlington, TX.

Post by Snapp200 »

Hello, all!
Picked up my first 03 Kdx200 over the weekend and looking forward to the giving this lighter bike, 2 stroke world a go. Coming from a drz400, so I’m prob in for a bit of a learning curve. I will post pics once I’m over this flu, but for now I have the photo from the CL add I bought it from.
So far I have swapped out the bars to renthal big bars and a clutch lever set up I had sitting around the garage. Got fork springs and seals on order, too. Got to go through it a little as it has seen a few better days in its 14 years.
Looking forward to the insight of the group.

Im a little bummed it didn’t have the lighting, but I suppose that won’t be too hard to source.

I had a headlight from a 90s DR350 I threw on mine which looks pretty good. Lots of cheap options.

Awesome. I didn’t think about other model interchangeability.

Took a few better pics of my own today and popped around the court a bit.
Even did a practice pick up after laying it down in the yard. What a difference!! Lol

I saw that bike on CL. Looks clean. Hopefully they just capped the wires and you’ve got something to work with on the lights.

I’d grab a new fork boot or seal savers for the right fork before pushing it too hard.

This group has multiple YouTube riding videos from all over. I even ran across them once (and rode with them for a while) while riding crooked creek near Waco. Nice group of guys. I have not been able to find their FB page or any other info about them online.

The group that I rode with was not on parade horses... There were a couple of KDX’s though.

It def looks way better in the pics. But for its age, I’m not complaining.
I actually took that boot off to look under it and since it was already tattered, I decided to just cut it off and be done with it.
My fork seal/bush kit and boots came in today along with the front wheel bearings, jic. Expecting springs today as well. I’s a little heavy. :p
Hoping to have that done soon and inspect neck and move onto the rear section. linkage, swingarm and shock. Then carb and top end inspection. Once I’m there I am probably going to be hitting all you wonderful folks up on info. [emoji41]
And there is a lump of stuffs taped up behind the number plate, so I’m assuming it is all the electrical. Maybe a lamp socket? I haven’t un taped it yet. Maybe this weekend.

I may have actually been with that group or at least some from he group at one time, now thinking about it. I believe there is a link to them on two wheeled texans. I will go check.
Crooked Creek was such a cool place to ride! I hate that they closed it down..
My son was just getting ready for light trail work on his 110 and I planned on taking him out there to play a bit and bam.. the doors shut.
Hoping who ever buys the place opens it back up. The previous/current owners just couldn’t keep up with it anymore.:(

I found it and sent a join request on Facebook, just now. Just type in dfw trail riders and it took me right to it.

They are the initials of the individual who added me to the group. Didn’t want to put whole names on the board.
Thought it may have been you. As soon as I clicked on the link, it showed that note briefly up top of the page.
