1990 Front end

Post by Nailhead426 »

I bought this 1990 kdx200 and it has rebound adjusted on the forks. Is there anyway to tell what these forks came off of or the year of them? It still has the stock triple clamps but I just ordered a top clamp from a later model kdx so can have more bar move ability. I was going to swap the forks out but they feel good with stiffer springs so I'll just work with what I have. Any info on how to find out more about these would be great thanks.

Those are the stock forks. That is an air bleed valve. Put the bike on a work stand (not kickstand), so the front wheel is off the ground. Remove the brass screw, and the air pressure in the fork will equalize with atmospheric pressure. Reinstall. It is very light torque. It is brass, and the cap is aluminum. Don't crank it down.

Under the bottom of each fork leg is a rubber cap covering a compression adjuster screw. DO NOT crank on them. Lightly turn them all the way in, then back out a certain number of clicks, depending on your choice and what suits your riding.

And by the way, that is a very clean looking KDX! Congratulations! :partyman:

Thanks! Your some reason I thought I saw an air bleed in front of that screw but sadly mistaken. I'll post up some pics when the rest of the parts get put on. Hoping to have it done by our New Years trip.
