Fuel leaking problem
ok. so i went to adjust the float level . used a float level gauge. put everything back together . turn fuel on and it leaks out the bottom of the fuel line as though fuel isnt getting in. fuel off. bowl off with fuel connected. pushed float up to stop fuel. Still fuel leaks out connection from pipe to carb. what the hell is happening. ? i thought the float was catching on the bowl of carb and stopping fuel from entering but not the case. jets are clean too. i give up.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
Buy fuel line are you referring to the Overflow hose on the bottom of the carburetor or the fuel line from the gas tank to the carburetor because if it's leaking from the fuel line the floats will have nothing to do with this

its leaking from the gas tank to the carb not the overflow.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
So it's either a leaking petcock or fuel line. The floats won't have any change over that they only stop fuel from entering the carb bowl.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
But fuel makes it through the line from the gas tank to the fuel inlet on the carb but stops there and leaks at the connection.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
It's either the carb or the hose then.
It has to be blocked somehow.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
ok when the bowl is off and the carb held upside down should the float be completely horizontal or are they pointing up at an angle?.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
Maybe it needs a clamp on the fuel line. The fuel line I'm using (not Oem) will leak just like yours until I tighten the clamp.

Fuel leaking problem
You need to hold the carb like this when measuring the float height so the float tang is resting on the float valve plunger but not depressing it.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
At the specified 16mm, my float is resting on the carb body. I had to set it to 18mm to give it some room to move.

Are you using the OEM fuel hose?

Re: Fuel leaking problem
pull the float bowl off, hook it up to your fuel line and let it hang in it's normal position and turn on your petcock. If fuel is coming out of the carb inlet and not coming out of the bowl you have something stuck in the carb inlet. If fuel comes out the float bowl then hold the floats up to close and see what it does. if fuel stops flowing out the float bowl and comes out the carb inlet you need a clamp on the hose (as mentioned above).

Re: Fuel leaking problem
Do you have a clamp on the hose? Sounds like it is a loose fit.

Re: Fuel leaking problem
Did you have any sort of clamp on it at all?
