How to reinstall clutch?

Post by mwoj »

So I had my clutch off for a repair. on my 1985 kdx 200 How tight should I tighten my clutch springs? Do Io just make them snug? Tighten them down all the way so that they are compressed? How do I tighten them?

Yes, tighten them down all the way. (Tighten them fairly evenly. Don't tighten one all the way while the others are loose.) As Jason said, use the torque spec. in the manual.

For H Series, Manual says: Clutch Spring Bolts: 78 in-lb
Clutch Hub Nut: 65 ft-lb

I would expect your earlier version would use similar torque values.

If I tighten to the 7-8 pounds, the springs just compress. The bolt keep on going down.

Yes, they will keep going. The bolts will bottom out before they torque.
