2004 KDX 220R restomod
Hi everyone my name is Jeremy.i I'm new to the forum.Last summer I inherited my father 's KDX after he had lost his battle to cancer. The bike , or the most part is stock( bars, sprockets chain and a 19in rear wheel) but runs well. I am planning on doing a full " frame off" restoration on the bike. I just do not know what is out there as far as swapping parts over from a kx250. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction as to what can be swapped over.

Welcome to the forums. Very sorry to hear about your father. Cancer is a terrible thing.
As for KX250 parts to swap, pretty much nothing aside from the front forks will swap over, and that takes a bit of doing. You have to re-use the KDX steering stem, so it must be pressed into the KX lower triple.

Sorry to hear about your father.
As for the bike, if you are sold on a full resto you will not be using anything off a KX. If you want to restore it to the trail eating playbike it was always meant to be then look at 1.)replacing the OEM piston with an aftermarket (do it before it takes itself out of the game and costs a small fortune) 2.)getting the suspension set up properly for your weight and style of riding, 3.)get the head and carb worked by Ron Black, 4.) aftermarket pipe 5.)Rejet for all the mods, and finally 6.) ride the hell out of it in honor of your dad. BTW the KDX stock rear wheel was 18". Post some pics up!

We have a pair of 220's with all the above and a little custom intake porting by myself.
A very nice project bike and after your done , I'm sure it will be a keeper.
Buy a good pipe and use the stock silencer.

Thanks for all your input guys I appreciate It. I found and trued up the stock 18in rim. I did plan on doing a top end and clutch to start and go from there. I've done some searching and I can't seem to find a rear fender with out a tail light anyone know if it's possible to get one?

I got a few parts(doing small things at a time just started a new job)
Also started taking the stock wheels apart for new rotors and wheel bearings
I also drained the clutch fluid and most of the antifreeze. Once I get new clutch springs I will put the clutch in. Has anyone ever ran this tusk clutch? Looking for a set of clutch springs to pair with that clutch.
