Help!! 2000 kdx220 oil leak
ok so I was do a annual clean up and noticed some oil coming out by what I thought was the headpipe, after some checking around it's the box right to the left of where the head pipe inserts in the block. Followed the tube that that leads to that box out of the casing. It seems to be a simple fix such as a gasket but I have no clue what this is, local shop seems to think its a cooler? Might be right have no clue. It's the line that runs right underneath the clutch line.
I'm working on uploading pictures to get a better description of what I'm talking about, have to knock off the rust on my internet skills. Any help is appreciated, I'm sure it's a simple fix and someone can name it out.

The line in describing comes out of the casing right above the rear brake.

That is the cover for the kips actuator. Look up a parts fishe for your bike on rocky mountain atv and you can see a picture of it and the gasket. You can take the cover off and use some silicone for a quick fix. The oil coming out of there would not be from your gearbox but from the oil you mix with your fuel. I don't think it's unusual for a two stroke to have a little spooge as they call it, from various places. It's the nature of the beast. Others who have grown up with 4 strokes and have recently discovered 2 strokes seem to freak out sometimes. in other words ride the bike, a little spooge is normal.

Help!! 2000 kdx220 oil leak
Thanks a lot!! I'm gonna throw it back together and see how it goes, will keep you updated. I'm also wanting to remove some slight rust from my headpipe. Any special ideas?

Steel wool (SoS) does a good job. WD40 after each ride.

Wouldn't hurt to clean the entire KIPS assembly if there is a lot of spooge coming out, but as stated by others...not an issue (other than getting all over your engine). And stay far way from that local shop!

If you have oil coming out of that cover, then your seal (p/n 92049) needs to be replaced or the o-ring on the shaft on that side needs replacing. See this link for pictures of what I'm referring to: http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopi ... 77&t=16783
