Returning KDX Owner
Just picked up a '99 220 with a good bit of work done to it. This is my first bike in 5-6 years and my first KDX in 10-11 years. My first KDX was a bone stock '03 200, between there were a few different dirt and street bikes. I lucked out working my way up on some trades the past few weeks and ended up with this. I'd say a month ago I didn't see myself on a dirtbike again in the foreseeable future. Now I'm wanting to go try out some Hare Scrambles like I always wanted to. Beyond going through some preventative maintenance stuff, I don't think there's much I'll want to do to it. Mod list is Fredette porting/polishing, bored carb, Ohlins forks, IMS pegs, FMF pipe/silencer, bark busters, Pro-Taper SE CR Hi-Bend bars...believe that's about it. Looking forward to riding this thing in the woods and trying to ease back into it without killing myself

Re: Returning KDX Owner
Nice looking bike. Welcome back.
Greasing the rear suspension and swing arm bearings on a newly acquired KDX is a good idea.
Most owners rarely do.

Re: Returning KDX Owner
Nice, forks are probably worth more then the whole bike!!! Might want to see if it has a aftermarket piston as they say the stocker has a bad habit of breaking. Gotta love the 220!!

Thanks guys, pretty sure it's got an aftermarket piston java. Only immediate issue besides the regular fluid changes, filter, greasing, etc. that I see to address is the float either sticking or being out of adjustment. Overflow tube leaks a bit if the petcock isn't off, will clean up the carb and check the float level in the next day or so. Probably put in a little inline fuel filter as well, love the extra cheap insurance.

That's a perfectly set up KDX IMO. I'd love to try that out in our NW woods.
I had 2 Gasgas with Ohlins. They are very, very nice!
Congrats on a sweet bike!

Took the carb out, cleaned, checked float level. Back together and no more leaky overflow :)

Re: Returning KDX Owner
Rides great. Only thing I think I need is to have the suspension set up for my weight, it's set-up for someone a good bit lighter than me and a bit soft...but still good. Took a ride around some trails near my house to try it out today. First time I've checked them out, so I was halfway trying to figure out where to go and half way trying to remember how to ride. Been since 2009ish since I've really ridden offroad on something with a motor
