Sorry, but it's true. I don't EVER trust my memory or even if I updated the tag on the can. Something in the back of my mind keeps telling me there's a slight chance I'm wrong; so, I test the gas using a blue shop towel. It takes only a minute to know for sure if there's oil in the gas this way.
I hope I didn't shatter any allusions about the great skipro!!!

One could have fun with the "allusions" when you mean "illusions" but it may sound demeaning and rude. I feel better knowing the great Skip is just extemely retentive about ensuring the fule is mixed, not dumb.skipro3 wrote:

We have three people using the same mixed fuel container so no one would dare put fuel in unmixed. And truthfully, if I am feeling retentive, I pour some into a glass and check the dye (Opti 2). We have never screwed up, yet.

Really? Exactly like that? The Great Skipro3 wrote:The gas will dry and leave an oil spot from the sample that has gas in it.
What about the sample that has no gas in it? What does THAT do? Is that more oilier?

I really don't know how you could actually tell one from the other, but I have solution or two. One, I'd burn the gas off in the car or truck and start over from scratch, but before I mixed my gas, I'd make darn sure as to mark the gas cans to whats inside, or like a buddy of mine did, bought a Kerosene gas can and uses it for his bike gas. The Kerosene cans are different color than the traditional red cans for gasoline.
But as far as trying to tell which is which, dunno.
Jon.
