I was told by my trainer to stick with the 4 stroke. He said a 2 stroke is not for beginner and can be intimidating. I paid mechanic $40 to come and check it out and everything. So I did some research and seems like 4t is what is recommended by for beginner. Now i start this process alllll over again looking for something.

It looks good, besides the fork seals. Don't be afraid to pay a little more for a good looking, good working one.
Try to ask for a discount about the fork seals, however.

Well, I am stuck in stall mode because the guy i took lessons from said the 2t is not for beginners. He recommends a ttr 125LE, CRF150f or 230f. After some research online many say 2t is tuff to ride for beginners.

the wifey has a TTR125L
compared to the KDX it is a moped
at 5'11 you are (IMHO) too tall for a TTR but the KDX should fit you fine
yes, most 2strokers have a tough hit once you get into the powerband BUT guess what bike doesn't?

it does not act like a MX bike, it is pretty docile
do yourself a favor and go to any local bike shop and sit on a few
find a bike you can sit on and put one foot down flat on the ground and 3/4 or tippytoe both feet
that is about the seat height you want so once you get home look up the specs on that bike and find some that are compatible

I am going get that bike tommorow. I am tired of researching bikes.
I called the seller and told him I am coming to see the bike again for myself. If I sit on it and my feet touch the ground, I am done. Everyone here says its a good bike for me and so does the mechanic. I have no idea what all that powerband stuff means, i will adjust and just get use to it. but I don't want buy a 125 or 150, then get tired of it later.

well to be fair, I would imagine everyone on here to say the KDX is great, but if you would find a forum called TTRrider.net they might prefer the TTR
the powerband thing is the way power gets delivered
if you have ever driven a turbo charged car you may have a good idea of what it means
4 stroke bikes have a very linear power delivery, it builds gradually
2 strokers often have a spot where all the power seems to kick in at once making the bike kick like a mule if you are not prepared for it
the KDX makes it power more like a 4 stroker then a 2 stroker

Good call on the KDX. I don't think anyone on here would have recommended a smaller 4 stroke bike given your height, and full size MX 250s and 450s can be every bit as tricky for a new rider. (Stiff suspension, high maintenance, plenty fast)

I think you made the right choice, unless you got a lemon, KDX's are GREAT when treated right :) I could sell mine and buy basically any bike I wanted, but I haven't.
How is the height for you? Once you're trained up it's ok to not be flat footed, but almost flat foot is ideal. Luckily KDX height can be so EASILY adjusted for next to nothing (I made the links that effect height for $3 worth of metal). I shouldn't be telling people this as I'm trying to sell the lowering links that came on mine on eBay haha.

I know Sam Houston National Forest has a dirtbike trails. $5 per day to ride.
It's like an hour north of Houston. Great place to ride the KDX.
