02 200 rear brake reservoir swelled out?

Post by Actionman »

I replaced both brakes fluid yesterday(it was like syrup) and noticed the rear plastic reservoir was "swelled" out causing air bubbles to flow past the seal. Anybody ever see this? I'm using a heat gun and light clamping to mold it back into shape, but it had to get pretty hot to do that don't u think?

Yep. I just did the same. Fits a lot better. Strange problem though. I had noticed numerous times that my rear rotor was blistering hot after a ride, and I seldom use the rear brakes so I knew it was something amiss. New fluid, new reservoir to master cylinder hose, and repairing the reservoir made my back brakes feel awesome. All new fluid in the front made them almost too strong Nd now I'm considering reinstalling the Kdx master cylinder again lol. I am a one-finger lever user. Shows how strong my front is when an index finger lightly applied almost throws me off the bike. I'm afraid ill accidentally hit the lever too hard and toss myself over the bars with the current setup. I'm kicking around installing the like new usd forks from the sweet 1990 rm125 I bought onto my Kdx as well. That old rm front brake is pretty weak in power though!
