Premix Ratios
Hey everyone,
I was wondering what you all run for a fuel mix ratio (I know the manual recommends 32:1).
I have a 2002 KDX-220 with an FMF Gnarly Woods pipe and Turbine Core II exhaust (plus an open-top airbox), and run a 42 pilot jet, 145 main jet, and a stock needle jet on the 3rd clip (90% of my riding is at 1,000 - 3,000 ft. elevation in the Tillamook State Forest on the Oregon Coast).
Lately, I've been running 40:1 (non-e, 97 octane gas - just a simple 16oz. oil to 5gal. gas) without any troubles - plus the gas can also comes in handy if I need fuel for the chainsaw, weed-wacker, boat, etc.
Just curious to get your feedback . . .
Thanks!

Re: Premix Ratios
I also run 40:1 with 97 octane. I use amsoil for premix and run it in weedwacker and chainsaw also. No problems at all. I ran 32:1 the first 3 tanks after the top end was done. But bike really seams to run well at 40:1

40:1, 93 Octane with Torco GP-7 oil. Use the Torco in my trials bike at 70:1 and have no problems there. And yes I know a trials bike is a whole different animal.

I run the same terrain and have the exact same mods. I run 40:1 with maxima synthetic. Never had an issue. I also run it in the weedwacker.

Re: Premix Ratios
40:1 Interceptor Amsoil. I ride from 2,500 feet in the Boise area to 10,000 feet in central Idaho. I am in the process of redoing my top end. It was done two season before I bought my bike and I have put an additional two and a half seasons on it. Other than a bit of carbon on top of the piston the jug was nice and clean.
