Just picked up a 99 KDX220 for my son, 14. He is getting back into riding after a 3-4 year break. He is riding with me, 52 year old late to the sport rider. I am on a KTM 200xc.
Bike is in fairly good shape, but seems to have had the airbox lid removed. Needs tire, grips and kickstand bolts.
Cleaned the carb (pilot clogged, bog now fixed) and found quite a bit of sand in gas tank!
Raised the forks 10 mm and cleaned her up. Need to lower it a tad for the boy
First ride with be today
Montrose Colorado, which btw has a amazing riding.

Welcome! The airbox lid removal is a pretty common mod to get the engine breathing better. Probably why yours is missing. Hope your ride went well!

Anyways welcome to the site. He will have a blast on it!
As for the airbox lid removal its as simple as that. Remove the lid and whalla more air to carb. Slightly noticeable improvement. I dunno mine is gone prolly a frisbee somewheres. Some drill holes etc.

If you cant fix it with a hammer, you have an electrical problem.
