Hi,
On my oil indicator, there is nothing there, just wondering what I should be topping up with?
Remember, I am in South Africa, so there is a good chance our brands may be different, but we do get the complete Motorex range here.
Thanks for your help!

Transmission Oil
Ok, so I have looked around, looks like 10w-40, any old cheap oil is the way to go!

i would stay away from 10W40 and use a automatice transmission fluid instead
if you do choose to go with motoroil be very carefull to read the back and make sure it does NOT have friction reducers or say "energy saving"
in a motor we dont want friction but in our clutch assembly we do, so if you drop in oil with friction reducers pretty soon your clutch will start slipping
if you ask around here you'll find most guys use some type of ATF-type F fluid

Disagree on the "NO 10W40", that's all i use and don't have any issue.diymirage wrote:i would stay away from 10W40 and use a automatice transmission fluid instead

Well, thanks, I guessed motor oil would not be the 100% way to go, although I am sure it works just fine!
I eventually ended up shelling out for Motul Transoil Expert

Paid a premium, but I figured, she could use some TLC ;)

Re: Transmission Oil
If I had an Automatic Transmission I would probably use Automatic Transmission Fluid. I don't, though.
Just messing with y'all. ATF is fine.
Most auto motor oils are fine, too. I've been using Castrol 20W-50 for years with no ill effects. The full quart fits fine.
Come to think of it I'm using Motor Oil in a Transmission, eh?
