The '03 has a different rear suspension, making the frame different as well. I think there are some additional minor changes in '04+, like higher footpeg mounts. I can't remember what else changed.

But I think you are correct in that many, if not all, of the plastics will swap.

The 03 and 04 are very similar. The main differance is the rear suspension linkage arrangement. The forks are differant also. The 03 had a bladderless fork where the 04 had a bladder fork. I have a 03 and 04 KX250 and In my opinion the 03 chassis/suspension is better for offroad. Both (actually between my wife and I we have had 2 03s and 2 04s) bikes were revalved for enduros and the 03 was plusher. It just soaks up the little stuff better. The 04 suspension is good but can be a tad harsh in the hacky stuff. Its better in the fast open stuff such as whooped out high speed trail. If and when I build a 200/220 hybrid, I will be looking for a 03 125 first but would build it on a 04 and later chassis if thats all I can find. The plastics are the same, the seat foam is lower on the 03 but the 04 up seat interchanges. Actually alot of parts interchange. The footpeg height remained the same, atleast on the 250. The 125 most likely didnt change also.
