An '87 would a C-series. Great bikes IMO. The only real negative is locating parts.

It should be similar to later E-series KDX200's as it has the KIPS system so I would expect fairly smooth overall with a noticeable power increase when the powervalve opens. However, I can't honestly say for sure.

I think the '87 KDX200 that I had was my favorite bike. I bought it new in '88. I had problems with the carb, but I replaced it with one from a KX125 and it ran much better. I also cut the pipe apart and cut out the inner liner and welded it back together. I think I liked it better than the KDX220 that I have now. It was easier to work on.

Air cooled, but with plated cyl making it the most desirable (IMO) of the air cooled bikes. In 88 they added the PWK carb as the only change....So would could easily be swapped from a newer KDX. 89 stated teh e-series liquid cooled.

Here's me on an '86 back in the day....
I also had an '88. Great bikes, easier to ride in creekbeds and rough single track. Good enough for racing too....LOL...
I didn't mean for the picture to be so huge... I'm still trying to figure the picture thing out....
