1990 e2 kdx 200 sr oil injection question.

Post by Denexc »

I'm restoring this old girl and I'm trying to figure out the oil injection system.
Previous owner had put on a pwk 35mm a.s. carb off a 91 kx125 and did away with the reservoir.

Pump is intact and still installed on the crankcase, I managed to find the last NOS reservoir in Australia for only $50!!!

I need to know where I plug the hose from the pump to lube motor.
Is there a spot on the case? Or is it into the air intake boot from the original 28mm carb?

Help please.

I believe it was on the manifold, or intake boot. There may also have been one running directly into the crankcase, I'm not sure.

Never dealt with an sr before but ive had a whole slew of "autolube" bikes and 90% of the time the oil would be injected into the intake boot ( between the carb and the reedblock)
Sounds like the PO used a different intake boot to run the different carb
Find yourself a stock SR intake boot and you should be golden
(Maybe check the partsfiche to be sure)

Do a search for "KDX rebuild lack of expertise sound mind" here on our site and a thread from 09 should show up that has a picture of the intake boot ( cant link it since im on the phone)

Thanks, is the kmx and kdx in the early 90's the same motor?
I found a boot for a kmx, just need to know if it will work.
:please:

Not quite, but they have some similarity. I would imagine making the KMX boot work would be pretty simple, even if it isn't an exact fit.

a KMX is a wimpy street version of a KDX so won't be surprised if its carb is of a smaller diameter.
The autolube pump on my SR died and caused the engine to seize. I was glad to return to premix because there is no doubt then how much oil is received and you don't have the problem of excess oil when cracking the throttle open when the revs are still low. I dislike autolube systems for those two reasons.
