Can't edit old posts no more? At least..not from here...not today.

Guess I can see why that may be...but I'm clearing up my typos and goobers on a regular basis. It also helps to be able to rectify or at least clarify earlier errors.

Where it sure don't work at ALL is in the bike profile section. I update my original post as things change. If I cannot edit my post, the whole thing gets cumbersome.

I don't need to 'splain that one....right?

Tell me it's just me?

Thanks.

You cannot edit a post if it is not the last one. This was done due to information being changed in the posts and eventually they don't make any sense... they don't flow the way they should. And sometime users will edit their posts and no one knows they did because it does not show up as a new post.
The bike profiles were there to be a marker and not added to by anybody except the author. But like all things, unless it's locked down... it will change. What I can do is one of two things... mod the forum so you can make changes to previous posts or delete the posts after your original post on your bike profile.

And here I thought I was doing something good for the forum!

I thought one could edit old posts, just not delete them unless it was the last post in a thread. I have gone back a few months in time to edit a post of information if I found out some new information just in case someone finds it in a search.

Thanks, Inda.

You're right...edits can be problematic.

Please folks, when editing something other that typos or for clairity...mark your edits **somehow**?

Then, future references to the old verbage make sense...as does the fix.

Thanks again.

I edit the heck out of my pasts before anyone else chimes in. Nice to know I can fix them after the fact with correct ****FACTS**** instead of a whole nother post.

I wonder, would it be possible to automaticly make edits in a different color if a reply has already been submitted? That way it leaps out at the reader that something was changed. Also, make any edits after someone has replied to be additions only. The editor can NOT delete things, just add for clairification.

Sometimes the"Moderator" edits and moves stuff around...

Thats the reason I deleted a post the other day, made little sense at all where it got put :?

Yes. It is possible to make edits automatically show up as a different color.

Mine do!

..when I 'automatically' remember to type (color=red) and (/color) when I'm editing anyway.
