View unread posts?

I might have missed this elsewhere, but when you log in, right below the link to new posts is a link titled "view unread posts". I clicked on that today and everything listed had been read and replied to. What is this link for?

I believe "view unread posts", shows threads with replies that you have not seen. "view new posts", is new posts since your last visit. You can click the "mark forums read", to mark the unread posts as read and start all fresh like.

I've been paying closer attention to this since you posed the question. View new posts is not very reliable, as it only lists posts that are new since the last time you logged in. If you make a habit of using "view unread posts" instead, you will get a more complete list of the threads that have posts in them that you have not yet seen. Seems I have been missing a lot of topics by focusing on the "view new posts" function, and that does not work reliably since I rarely ever log out.
