Porting and head job.

Post by jackbombay »

I'm looking to get a little more power out of my bike, most of my riding is at higher elevations so getting back some of what I lose due to thinner would be great.

The details, 2006 KDX, I don't know much on the history, but everything runs well as it is. Fredette will port the jug and mill the head for $230. I think the piston is ok, but I'll do a compression test before tear down and will instal new rings at least, or maybe a new top end while I have it all apart depending on what everythign looks like. I'll take the piston and jug to the local motorsports shop and have them inspect before I send the jog off to Fredette for machine work.

I'll obviously be checking the rod.crank bearings when I have it apart, but, what else should I be inspecting while I have the jug off?

Check for worn plating.

If you want more power, at least new rings would help.
