Quest for all violet plastics...

Post by Tyl3r »

Well, I'm starting to become obsessed with making my dual sport purple haha. I have purple side plates, rear fender, shrouds, radiator guards, fork boots, and fender bag. What I cannot seem to find is a purple front fender and headlight shroud. Anyone know of any aftermarket companies that would sell these? I figured that worse case scenario, I could wrap the headlight shroud with purple vinyl, but I don't want to do that with the front fender.

Just keep an email alrrt on eBay and be patient.

There is a guy from France on here that has been looking for two years for people plastic.

Freddete may have some.

Just be ready to jump when it shows up on eBay is my advice.

I have even bought purple KX number plate and fork guards and guides. Paid a penny, but they are mine. Heck, I might even install it all one day. LOL

Yea, I've been keeping an eye out! Let me know if you ever decide to part ways with the number plate, fork guards and guides!

Heck no. :snooty:

I was just making a point that it DOES show up at times. I can't remember if mine is for E or H. I have several aqua (light blue) E pieces that took a long time to find.

I bought some aqua shrouds from Fredette about 15 years ago. He is not Amazon dot com when it comes to warehousing and inventory listing, so check with him. He may have something.

I figured, but still had to ask

And thanks, I may try checking with Mr. Fredette. I didn't know if any other manufacturers had the option of a purple front fender. I came across one for a KX500 on ebay, but it was a pretty old, square looking one and wasn't a fan.

The search continues.....

Look for UFO brand. You might find a purple one for another bike, as purple was hot in 94 - 96 in MX, too.

I had noticed UFO seemed to be the only aftermarket company that had purple parts.

They made a purple mud guard!? dang, I had no idea! I guess I need to add another item to the list!

You might try Kevin's Cycle Racing in MA. I was there last year and they said they had a bunch of purple plastics. Give them a call, they probably will not be listed on their website.

i think you are right ... i speack about this:

In French the name of this parts is "garde-boue arrière" : "garde" translation is "guard" , "boue" translation is "mud" and "arriere" is "rear" ... so i was thinking "rear fender" and "rear mud guard" are the same, but it seems I was wrong... Sorrry guys...

Ooooo I understand now! No big deal! I thought you were referring to the mud flap piece that connects to the bottom of the air box and keeps mud off of the shock.

I actually have one of the purple rear fenders, I couldn't believe it when I first saw it, did not know that they existed!

Yes, we call it a rear fender.

I can't remember looking for or seeing a purple splash guard in front of the rear tire that mounts to the airbox. I do have a Maier aqua (light / sky) blue splah guard for 1989 - 1994 (and whatever KX's it fits too).

I slapped a couple of purple parts on to see how it was going to look. Still a ton of work to do. I'm wet sanding and buffing the side number plates and rear fender... only have made progress on one of the panels so far. Might do the same with the shrouds, don't know yet. Still need to throw on the purple fork covers. The purple rad guards are on too, but you can't see them. I didn't want to slap on the rear fender because I would need to drill a hole in it to mount the tailight/plate mount that is currently on the bike. I have a couple ideas for how to get it done, but I plan to upgrade the stock tailllight and have it work as a brakelight. Then I'll do some type of under fender mount for the turn signals and plate mount. Hee hee, I'm excited. After that, I'll tear it all down and either paint or powder the frame the stock green color. Then its on to cleaning up the wheels and tires. Should pretty much be a brand new barney bike after that. O yea, the BD headlight needs to go and so does that oxidized front fender.

Anyways, here's an early progress pic:

Looks awesome! The graphics on the shrouds look like they are in great condition. I am always on the look out for purple plastics as well. I found a set of shrouds a few months back with decent looking graphics and picked them up even though the left side had a good sized crack in it. I ended up glueing and taping them, which seemed to work ok. Will be on the look out for a nicer pair at some point. I never knew a rear fender existed!!

Jason - Thats the hybrid sitting next to it on the right

VTMTcowboy - Thanks man. Surprisingly, the graphics still aren't too bad. I follow some KDX guys from Portugal on Instagram and I remember seeing that someone bought these graphics brand new. I'm going to have to find out where they got them. And I was surprised about the rear fender and number plates too! Good luck on your search for the purple plastics!

I did some cleaning up in this thread.

If you have something to sell, please list it in the For Sale subforum. If you are wanting a certain, "known" product, please post in the Wanted subforum.

Thank you.
