Clutch - wheel

Post by sthutch »

Hello,
I pulled my 2001 KDX200 out for the summer and the clutch plates were stuck together. Upon inspection I found that the were in need of replacing. After getting the parts I noticed some odd scratches on the clutch wheel (#13086). The outside (side with the posts for the springs) looked good, but the inside had, what appears to be fractures on it. Has anyone noticed this before? Are these casting flaws or am I moments from a catastrophic failure? I would appreciate it if you have a look at the attached photos and let me know. You may have to zoom in it to see them. In case you are wondering, I am the second owner of the bike and have had it for the last 5ish years. No clutch trouble issue until now.

Thanks,
Sthutch

A lot of the cast parts on the KDXs weren't of the greatest quality, but they are functional.

The KDX MSRP was not of the greatest quantity. :hmm:

Parts look like casting stuff, not a problem. Look on the "internet" for a lot of pictures of other people's parts that will look just like yours.

What they said. Those are not fractures or cracks.
