CDI wire lengths

Post by Jaguar »

I'm making available an adjustable CDI for the H series but I don't know the wire lengths. Can anyone tell me? I just have the E series stock CDI to compare to. thanks http://www.dragonfly75.com/moto/KDXCDI.html

CDI wire lengths

I will get the measurements for you since I already have one of your CDI's installed on my bike. (BTW, I love the CDI! :supz: ) Where do you want the CDI to be located to get the measurements? I currently have mine mounted between the rear fender and the crossbar behind the airbox.

actually I'd like to know the wire lengths of the stock CDI in its regular mounting position. that's the H series which I think mounts it on the frame close to the steering stem.

Factory CDI wire leads as follows...
Black w/Yellow stripe (female bullet connector) 5.125"
Blue (.25" female spade connector) 5.125"
Black (male bullet connector) 7.785"
Black w/White stripe (female bullet connector) 7.785"
White w/Red stripe (female bullet connector) 10.25"
All measurements from CDI enclosure to tip of the metal connector
BTW, my manual shows the H-series CDI was mounted on the airbox lid.

Thanks for jumping on that SS109! I couldn't get to my bike (out of town) and I glad you got it handled. I'm looking forward to buying one of these CDI's!

It is definitely a worthy purchase. I only wish I had installed it sooner!

I think that when it is adjusted right it should give both more mid range and top end power. Is that your experience?

Yes. Mid range feels stronger and it pulls harder and longer on the top end. Basically the CDI made the great low end of the 220 even better and then added a fatter mid range along with the top end power/rpm's of a 200. Admittedly, my bike is far from stock (RB carb/head, RAD valve, FMF desert pipe/turbine core silencer), but I think having the adjustable CDI has allowed me to get the most out of my particular combination of mods.

Jaguar, is this a new product or just new production of your existing CDI? How adjustable will it be? Can you give us some details? My motor is a 223cc big bore from Eric Gorr, 36mm Smartcarb, Gnarly pipe (I hated the Desert pipe), Ron Black head and Rekluse clutch with 172.3 hrs after yesterday's ride (30 hrs on the present top-end) and it is just begging for a different timing curve. Please let us know when the CDI is available (kenpowell at comcast.net).

My Performance CDI is on the way and should be in the States in ~ 2 weeks. I'll give a review when I have it dialed in for my 223cc KDX H-series motor.
