Kick starter

Post by patreilly »

I took your advice and bought an electric 1/2" impact wrench. Clutch is now off. Problem is I don't see anything wrong with the slipping kick start mech. Dogs look good on gear and ratchet, all gear teeth good, the ratchet spring is strong, all washers in place. What am I missing?

Make sure the stack up is correct. There's not a lot of travel in the ratchet gear so all the washers need to be in the right place. Also inspect the idler gears that interface with the drive gear on the back of the clutch. I know on mine the spring looked good, but when I put the new spring on the problem went away.
